Two months have flown by....we're sure those of you who keep up with us through this blog are wondering what we've been up to and where we are. Since the school year began we're all back at school in the USA - Mark as a high school teacher, Kimberly as a sophomore high school student, and Cathy as a paraprofessional learning support aide at an elementary school.
Life has been very busy for us as we continue to pursue our dream of full time ministry in Africa. For the past six weeks we have been sharing in an adult Sunday School class at our church. Focusing on the challenges of ministering to the poor we've used When Charity Destroys Dignity by Glenn Schwartz as the basis for our discussions. One of our friends guided the group through a wonderful biblical word study of the word "poor"; the discussions have been stimulating! We've also had opportunity to give some cultural input about life in rural Africa and
have shared a simulation detailing life choices and challenges for vulnerable children in East & Central Africa, Ishara's Journey. It has been wonderful to have this extended opportunity to share the passion of our hearts!
Financial support for full time ministry is still a need for us; currently we have 45% of our yearly budget pledged and our ministry fund grows each month as people begin contributing. We still feel a strong call to minister among children, youth, and educators and are eager to plant our feet on African soil soon!
